Introduction

LinkGenius is tightly integrated with GA4. Some of the advanced features like conversion tracking or server-side click tracking allowing to track your clicks on any platform need the GA4 Measurement ID and API Key from Google Analytics. In this article you can find how to obtain them.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have:

• A Google Analytics account.
• Access to the property for which you want the Measurement ID and API Key.

Step 1: Access Google Analytics

Go to Google Analytics and log in to your account.

Step 2: Select the Property

In the left-hand menu, click on the property for which you want to obtain the Measurement ID and API Key.

Step 3: Navigate to Admin

Click on the “Admin” tab located in the bottom left corner.

Step 4: Create a New Data Stream (Optional)

If you have GA4 installed on your website you already see a datastream here. You can choose to use the existing datastream or create a new one depending on if you want to use different settings for you LinkGenius click and commission events.

1. In the “Property” column, click on “Data Streams.”
2. Click the “+” button to add a new data stream.
3. Choose the platform (Web, iOS, Android) and follow the setup instructions.

Step 5: Locate Measurement ID

Once the data stream is set up:

1. Go back to the “Admin” tab.
2. Under the “Property” column, click on “Data Streams.”
3. Click on the data stream you want to use.
4. Your Measurement ID is displayed at the top. It looks like “G-XXXXXXXXXX.”

Step 6: Obtain API Key

1. In the “Admin” tab, click on “Create Credentials.”
2. Choose “API Key.”
3. Copy the API Key provided.

You now have obtained your Measurement ID and API Key, to provide to LinkGenius under Settings > Tracking.
